Nine-Year-Old Lynchburg Boy Asks For Donations, Not Presents

Lynchburg, VA -  A 9-year-old Lynchburg boy gave the Humane Society a great surprise this week.

Harrison Gore just had a birthday and instead of presents, he asked for toys and food for the Humane Society.

He just dropped off the donations that included many toys and 10 bags of dog food.

Executive Director Makena Yarbrough says they go through over 50 pounds of dog food a day, so donations like this really mean a lot.

"Donations like this really help us out quite a bit and it means a lot more to us when a child gives up something of their own to bring these animals in need items that they need on a daily basis," said Yarbrough.

The Humane Society will have its final Holiday Open House Saturday.

The event runs from noon until five.

All pet adoptions are just 30 bucks.
