Pittsylvania Co., VA - A Pittsylvania County historian is publishing a book about the Civil War from a local perspective.
Thomas B. Fowler wrote 'Southside: Virginia's Last Hope in the Civil War'. It took him 15 years to write and he consulted with a dozen experts, including professors.
Fowler says many people are not aware of Danville's rich history regarding the war.
"The more I delved into it, the more fascinating the story got. Real people. I thought the way to tell the story was through a historical novel. I also apply the dialogue, which I obviously having to make up but the events are true," said Fowler.
Right now they are still in the proof stage. But Fowler hopes to have it published in early next year. You will be able to purchase it on Amazon.
