Lynchburg - Manny Hernandez poured in a game-high 23 points, leading five Hornets in double figures, as Lynchburg College defeated Virginia University of Lynchburg 97-79 Monday night at Lynchburg College.
The Hornets led by 20 at the half 47-27 and did not let the visiting Dragons get any closer than 16 in the second half.
Lynchburg improves to 9-and-3 on the season with the win. The Hornets host Randolph-Macon Saturday at 2 in their next game.
Dennis Gravely out of Martinsville led VUL with 18 points, Jan Zornjan added 15 and Lakuan McPhaul 14.
Two area women's scores, Randolph lost to Hood 76-63, Emilee Dunton led Randolph with 15 points. And Hollins defeated Southern Virginia 58-44, Britney Campbell had 15 points to help lead Hollins.
