How to Help Family of Danville Man Killed in Afghanistan

Danville, VA - You can now help the family of the Danville man killed in Afghanistan.

You may remember we told you about Lee McCubbins, who was shot by an Afghan sniper, according to his father.

McCubbins was a Danville Police Officer for years before going to the Middle East. McCubbins has a 15-year-old daughter who has designed a decal in honor of her father. It is being sold for $5 and the funds will go towards continuing her equestrian lessons.

"He would want her to be able to continue on. I know he frequently spoke of her and the program she was in, he attended every one he could possibly make and he was very proud of her," said Dennis Haley, friend of McCubbins.

There is also a Scholarship Fund set up for his daughter.

If you want to buy a decal, contact Cheryl Ricketts at (434)203-9309.

If you want to donate to the R. Lee McCubbins, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, you can do so by going to any branch of Carter Bank and Trust.
