Auburn's Jaylon Denson hopes to be healthy for summer workouts

Posted: Updated:

Wide receiver Jaylon Denson plans to take the safe route in coming back from his leg injury.

The former Hoover star says he plans to sit out the Tigers spring practice and will target the summer to be at full strength.

"It's going good, it's starting to get a lot better now," Denson told AL.com. "The dark days are pretty much over."

Denson tore his patellar tendon in the first quarter of Auburn's loss at LSU. The junior receiver had three catches for 45 yards to that point and hopes to get a medical redshirt from the NCAA.

A player can't participate in more than 30 percent of his team's contests to be eligible for a medical redshirt. Denson played in 28.6 percent of Auburn games last season.

Auburn plans to have all of it's wide receivers back and signed D'haquille Williams and Stanton Truitt last month. The Tigers also have a commitment from Myron Burton in it's 2014 signing class.
