Posted: Updated:

The A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club is showing off how a grant from Lowe's helped with repairs and renovations at its South Park unit.  The grant is in the amount of $48,200.

"Our Club is thankful to the Lowe's Making Dreams program for assisting us in making upgrades to our South Park unit. The enhancements have improved the appearance and efficiency of the building while creating a more welcoming environment for our children.  We are truly grateful for the partnership," said Frank E. Adams, Jr., President & Chief Professional Officer for the A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club.

They will give tours so guests can see the renovations today, Wednesday, January 15, 2014,  from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.  The South Park Unit is located at 2900 South Park Drive SW in Birmingham, Alabama.  A short program and refreshments will follow.

Lowe's donated $1 million to 20 Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide.

"For more than 100 years, Boys & Girls Clubs have delivered high-impact youth development programs that promote academic success, good character and healthy lifestyles," said Joan Higginbotham, Lowe's Director of Community Relations. "With the $1 million donation and the help of our Lowe's Heroes, we're able to improve our local communities and support the development of tomorrow's leaders."

The national Lowe's grant allowed the Club to replace gymnasium lighting, refurbish flooring and update its bathroom facilities.
