Lynchburg Native Appointed by Governor McAuliffe

Richmond, VA - A Lynchburg native was appointed by Virginia's new governor to fill a big position in the administration.

Evan Feinman will serve as Deputy Secretary of Natural Resources. We visited with him in his office on Capitol Square on Wednesday, Feinman's third day on the job.

The office oversees the state park system, deals with conservation issues, and works to keep air and water clean.

Feinman grew up camping at Panther Falls and enjoying time at Smith Mountain Lake State Park.

"Those resources were accessible. They were available and they were clean and enjoyable and something that you wanted to take advantage of. Part of the job here is making sure that kids growing up in Lynchburg now and their kids and their kids have the same opportunities that I did."

Feinman was previously the policy coordinator for Terry McAuliffe's gubernatorial campaign and served on the governor's transition team.
