Amherst Co., VA - Search warrants in the Amherst County homicide reveal new details in the case.
It shows that deputies found the body of 30-year-old Jennifer Johnson in the bedroom, next to the bed, with an apparant gunshot wound to the chest.
It also shows there was a break in the glass window of the bedroom. On the floor below the window, investigators found a single ammunition cartridge.
The warrant says two juveniles were at the home when paramedics arrived and one of those juveniles was the one who made the original 911 call.
Cordell Carter has been charged with second degree murder.

Amherst Co., VA - Amherst County murder suspect Cordell Carter is making his first appearance before a judge Thursday afternoon.
Carter turned himself in just before 11 a.m. Wednesday.
He is charged with the second degree murder of 30-year-old Jennifer Johnson.
He has been denied bond.
Carter is set to appear in court for his advisement hearing at 1:30 p.m.
