Amherst, VA - Jennifer Johnson's family and friends gathered Thursday night to honor her life. Johnson was found dead in her Amherst County home Tuesday.
The candlelight vigil at Amherst Baptist Church was standing room only: emotions raw with the loss of someone everyone says was just getting her life together.
They gathered, sharing memories of her, singing and saying prayers.
The vigil also put the spotlight on something bigger than everyone in the room, a problem in their community – domestic violence.
Then each part of Jennifer's life picked up a candle to let it shine like her life.
Jennifer Johnson leaves behind two sons. Deputies say Cordell Carter shot her dead in front of those kids. Jennifer was 30 years old.
