Update: School bus involved in accident on way to Hueytown High School

Update:
The bus was stopped at a red light while in route to Hueytown High School. A van ran the red light, hitting the bus. The driver of the van and a student were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

A second bus then took the remainder of the students to Hueytown High School.

Update:
The accident happened at the corner of Jaybird Road and Allison Bonnett Memorial Drive. There are no serious injuries. The children are being moved to a different bus.

Midfield and Hueytown police are on the scene of an accident involving a Jefferson county school bus and an overturned car in Midfield.

There is no word of injuries at this time.

ABC 33/40 has a crew on the way, and we will have more information as it becomes available.
