GLTC Offers Rides to Store for Those in Need in Lynchburg

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - The City of Lynchburg is offering residents in one neighborhood a free lift to get groceries.

Beginning Saturday, a bus operated by GLTC will pick up people from Florida Avenue at Greenfield Drive and the James River Crossing Bus Shelter at Greenfield Drive.

The bus will drop them off at the Food Lion on Florida Avenue.

The area has been designated a food desert, which means there's limited access to fresh produce and healthy food options.

The health department is subsidizing the cost of the free bus service.

It runs from 9:45 to 11:45 every Saturday morning.
