Hunting Contest Raises Money to Feed the Hungry

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - One Amherst County hunter's big doe has won him some major dough.

Paul Miller took home $1,064 in the Hunters for the Hungry Big Doe Contest. He was presented a check at W & W Novelty in Lynchburg Monday.

Miller says the deer he killed was the biggest doe he'd ever seen. It weighed in at 120 pounds after field dressing.

The contest also raised more than $2,616 for Hunters for the Hungry.

That money will help provide 11,700 quarter pound servings of venison through area food banks.
