Lynchburg Area College Launches 'Save the Next Girl' Chapter

Lynchburg, VA - Dan Harrington and his wife Gil created "Save the Next Girl" after their daughter Morgan was murdered.

Now, Sweet Briar College has become the first Lynchburg area college to launch its own chapter.

The goal is violence prevention.

Business major Tyesha West founded the chapter last fall. She decided to create the chapter in response to Alexis Murphy's disappearance.

West says it's not about fear, but education and empowerment.

"Together we advertised this to bring people together to say we're not going to take this anymore and the communities need to do something to help protect our young women," said Dan Harrington.

Since launching the Sweet Briar College Facebook page last week, the chapter already has 348 likes.

Radford and Virginia Tech also have chapters.
