Superintendent Addresses Teacher's Allegations Over Danville School

Danville, VA - The Superintendent of Danville Public Schools is speaking out on allegations made about the state of Bonner Middle School.

According to the Danville Register and Bee, a longtime teacher called the school environment "out of control."

She claimed several teachers have left because of the condition, and that the school has seen more than 30 reported incidents including 14 assaults this school year.

The Superintendent said many of these incidents are minor and have been taken out of context, and he says the recent incidents do not reflect the entire student body.

"We have many teachers happy about what's going on at that school. The new principal is very excited. The community should be coming together for students. Not finding ways to bring attention to negative things," said Superintendent Dr. Edward Newsome.

Parents were recently invited to meet the new principal, Daphne Wall, but very few came out.

Wall took over for Principal Kevin Whitlock last month.
