Old City Cemetery Holds Award Ceremony For Picture Contest

Lynchburg, VA - Sunday afternoon Old City Cemetery held an awards ceremony for their second annual photography contest.

The theme this year was "Kindred Spirits."Pictures taken anytime last year, somewhere in the cemetery, were submitted the first week of this year.

There were two categories-- amateur and professional. Judges also picked a best in show.

The past two weeks the public has been voting for a winner in the "Viewers Choice" category as well. The cemetery's executive director says this competition brings the city together.

What it does is it brings people in here and opens their eyes to a different sort of perspective of the cemetery," said Bruce Christian who is the Executive Director of Old City Cemetery.

Monetary prizes were awarded to the winners. The checks ranged from 50 to 250-dollars.

The winner of "Best In Show" went to "The First and Last Meeting" by LuAnn Hunt.
