Details Revealed About Danville Mother Who Killed Two-Month-Old

Danville, VA -- A Danville mother who pleaded guilty to killing her two-month-old baby will spend the next 22 years behind bars.

Michelle Pruitt killed her son, Alphonza O'Brien Fuller III, back in April.

Michelle Pruitt pleaded guilty to two counts of felony child abuse and neglect and one count of felony homicide in November.

According to Commonwealth's Attorney Michael Newman, Michelle Pruitt thought of her son as an 'annoyance' and said this was 'not a one time deal'.

Newman said on April 3, Pruitt shook her baby which caused him to have multiple rib fractures and bleeding in his brain. Pruitt said she lied to the medical workers about what happened so she wouldn't get in trouble.

Then 16 days later, Newman says she shook the 49-day-old baby again and threw him five feet across the bed. He was pronounced dead on April 19.

Within days of the baby's death, Newman pointed out that her Facebook page had posts about 'being bored' and joking about being single.

"Justice was served in the fact that she was held accountable for her actions. We presented the evidence to the court as to why we believed she deserved even more than what the upper end of the guidelines were," said Newman.

Monday, Pruitt took the stand and said that she 'loved being a mother' and misses her son. The Defense pointed out that she had emotional traumas from her childhood, which put her in a vulnerable state.
