Altavista beat Brookville 69-55 but could have to play without starting point guard Juan Thornhill for a while. He re-aggravated a sprained ankle for the third time this season and coach Mike Cartolaro said this time is the worst of those three. Altavista faces Gretna Tuesday and then first place Dan River Friday. Darius Johnson had 25 points in the win. Demetrius Johnson added 16.

Chatham beat Appomattox 55-54. Cody Coeburn's layup with 6 seconds left gave the Cavaliers (4-9) the win. Coeburn had 12 points. Rae Giggetts had 14. Chatham is at Dogwood leader Dan River Tuesday night.

VES defeated BlueRidge 63-62. Delante Jones' two free throws with 6 seconds left gave VES the lead and the win. He had 17 points. Taylor McHugh added 16.

Buckingham knocked off previously unbeaten Bluestone 69-66. Sophomore Leon Ragland had a career-high 29 points for Buckingham (7-4). They have now won six in a row.

Heritage (11-6, 7-2) won 63-56 over Rustburg. Antonio Sherman had 16 points. Jessee Calloway had 14 points. Matt Kimble had 27 points for Rustburg.

Martinsville got a 60-52 win over Magna Vista. Cameron Turner had 21 points and 13 rebounds for Martinsville.




VES beat Chatham Hall 57-11. Bre Jefferson scored 14 points for VES. They host Roanoke Catholic Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Appomattox beat Chatham 48-44. Melody Burke had 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals in the win. Jaliyah Giggetts had 18 points for Chatham.

Heritage (9-9) scored a home win over Liberty 69-58. Cameron Carter had 36 points for Heritage.

Claudia Quevedo had 35 points, 7 steals, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds in Rustburg's (11-6, 5-5) 52-46 win over Jefferson Forest. Quevedo was 19-22 from the free throw line.
