Students Honor Classmate with Challenge at Jefferson Forest HS

Bedford Co., VA - Students at Jefferson Forest High School in Forest hope the death of a classmate will encourage teens to make good decisions on the roads.

Students are launching Bronwyn's Challenge, in memory of 15 year old Bronwyn Farris, who died after a car crash last week.

Police say Farris was not wearing a safety belt.

Now student leaders are launching the program.

Students who sign a pledge to buckle up will get a wristband to wear.

"Every time you get in your car, whether you're putting your hand on the steering wheel, starting the car, you look at it and you're just going to think what happened to ultimately your family member, which is your classmate and you'll just remember to buckle up," said JF Senior Kamden Becraft.

All students at JF will have the opportunity to sign the pledge at safe driving assemblies next month.

There were also be an event held for parents.
