Record-breaking call levels attributed in part to winter blues
CHICAGO, Feb. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ComPsych Corporation registered a 19 percent increase in employee assistance program calls for the month of January, as compared to January 2013, according to a recent data analysis by the world's largest provider of EAPs. ComPsych is the pioneer and worldwide leader of fully integrated EAP, behavioral health, wellness, work-life, HR, FMLA and absence management services under its GuidanceResources brand.
"This winter has been particularly harsh for many and when the mercury plummets, so do people's moods," said Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz, Chairman and CEO of ComPsych. "Compounding the problem is the phenomenon known as post-holiday blues, when the festivities are over and the credit card bills arrive.
"The good news is people are calling the EAP for help in record numbers, getting practical information on beating the winter blues and counseling for depression and other behavioral or relationship issues."
