Campbell Co., Va - The mother of 5 month old Cory Cole, who was found dead two weeks ago in Pulaski County, was arrested in Campbell County Wednesday charged with neglecting Cole.
Warden was arrested at the home of Jonathan Craft, an advocate against child abuse, whose daughter, Vera Lee, was murdered in 2012.
Ever since the death of his daughter, Vera Lee, Jonathan Craft has been working to highlight the evil of child abuse.
That included reaching out to Samantha Warden in her time of darkness.
"I want everybody else to know that it's really out there. I want people to know that it's gotta stop," said Craft.
Part of his plan was to help Warden with ideas on how to raise money that would go to pay for Cory's tombstone... an obstacle Craft himself faced.
But shortly after picking Warden up in Pulaski to bring her to his Campbell County home... things just weren't adding up.
"My intentions were just to help her and as the stories were changing that's when I felt like I had to do something. I had to say something," said Craft.
Noticing the amount of luggage Warden brought Craft became concerned she was about to leave the state.
So he called Pulaski investigators - who that same afternoon had filed the neglect charge against Warden.
Around 8:30 deputies from Campbell County showed up and took Samantha Warden away in handcuffs.
"Any innocent person when you get arrested you are going to have some type of shock. And she did not show any emotion at all," said Craft.
The whole situation has left Craft feeling used but it isn't something that will deter his mission.
"It has not set me off track at all. I've still got the same mission to help children," said Craft.
Samantha Warden, whose legal name is Samantha Taylor, is still being held in the Campbell County Jail waiting to be taken back to Pulaski.
Authorities there suspect that will take at least a few days because of issues related to the weather.
