Family Displaced After Side Of House Collapses

Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg family's home has been condemned after the entire side of their house collapsed before the snow storm hit.

It left them with a gaping hole that is now filled with snow after the storm hit.

The Stump family is devastated.  They were on the other side of the home when it collapsed, but say their son lived in the side that is now destroyed. He lost all his childhood belongings and keepsakes, but was not home at the time because he stayed late at school.

"All I can say is I'm glad that I'm alive. If I had gotten home any sooner, I would be in that mess," said Jonathan Stump who has lived in the home all his life.

The home is nearly 200 years old and has been in the family for generations.

The City of Lynchburg has condemned the building. The Stumps have called the Red Cross to ask for help.
