Snow Doesn't Stop Valentine Deliveries

Lynchburg, VA – It's the busiest day all year for florists, but there wasn't much for them to love about the weather forecast leading up to Valentine's Day.

The ladies who take the orders and arrange the flowers here at Kathryn's Flower Shop in Lynchburg anticipated early this week that many offices would be closed by Valentine's Day because of the snow. They started making deliveries on Wednesday to get ahead of the storm.

Friday was still busy for Roger Johns, a driver for Kathryn's. Johns navigated snow covered secondary roads, sometimes hiking several blocks through snow to get arrangements to their destinations.

"We spent all day yesterday digging the flower shop out and having to go pick up the ladies, bringing them to work, so they could start making arrangements for today," said Johns.

Johns returned some flowers to the shop when he discovered offices were closed. Kathryn's had three drivers making deliveries Friday. A fourth driver couldn't make it to work, because of the snow.
