Owner of Danville Dog Sentenced for Animal Cruelty

Posted:

Danville, VA - The woman police say was the owner of a Danville dog found severely wounded last summer will spend four months in jail.

Yesterday, a Danville Circuit Court judge found Ella Easley guilty of animal cruelty.  The judge sentenced her to a year in jail but suspended eight months.

This was Easley's appeal to her six month sentence last November in General District Court.

The dog, named Dawn by the Danville Humane Society, was found last August.  Police say she was covered in flies and maggots with a 12-inch chain embedded in her neck.
