Police: Man Arrested for Wrong-Way Driving, Fender Benders

Lynchburg, VA – Authorities from multiple departments were on the scene of a hit and run in Lynchburg Tuesday night.

Police say the incident started just before 6:00 p.m. on the Lynchburg Expressway between Odd Fellows Road and Candlers Mountain Road.

They say Thomas Davidson was driving northbound in the southbound lane with his 17-year-old son in the passenger seat.  Police say two cars were hit, causing minor damage, during the incident.

The driver of one of those cars gave police the license plate number which led them to Davidson's home on Spring Mill Road in Campbell County.  They say Davidson got into a scuffle with authorities during his arrest.

Davidson is charged with assault on a police officer and more charges are pending.

His 17-year-old son was also taken into custody, but since he is a minor the name of the charges have not been released.

Police say alcohol is a factor in this incident.
