Collinsville, VA - Warrants from a homicide investigation into two people found dead in Franklin County have recently been unsealed.
Ricky Eugene Dodson went missing in early October around the same time Vicky Purdy disappeared.
Dodson's body was found in a wooded area about a mile from where they found Purdy's remains in a burned out car.
We now know Purdy was shot in the head.
The search warrant filed in October that had been sealed in Henry County for three months.
The affidavit in the warrant shows investigators believe, through family and friends, that Vicky Purdy had a substance abuse problem and owed money to Dodson's nephew for drugs.
The warrant says Dodson was Purdy's boyfriend.
Using several forensics techniques, including cell phone records, investigators believe both Purdy and Dodson were last seen by his nephew for a potential drug deal.
That was at the nephew's Henry County home near Blackberry.
Investigators searched the home last fall, with consent, recovering items including a mask, a trunk lining and a digital recorder.
That recorder is a lot like the one investigators believe Vicky Purdy had used in the past to gather information as an informant.
Other statements in the affidavit show the person of interests' own mother reported a strong smell of diesel on the man the day after the couple were last seen.
So far no arrests have been made.
