Former University of Virginia Lacrosse Player Murder Conviction Stands

Posted:

The second degree murder conviction of George Huguely will stand after the Virginia Court of Appeals rejected his appeal.

The former University of Virginia lacrosse player was found guilty of killing his ex-girlfriend, Yeardley Love.

Attorneys for Huguely argued he was denied his 6th Amendment right to counsel when one of his lawyers got sick during his trial in 2012.

There were also questions about jury selection and instructions.

During the trial, it came out that Love was found dead in her apartment after Huguely kicked a hole in her bedroom door and beat her after a day of heavy drinking.
