Posted:

Lovingston, VA - A Lovingston woman charged with murder for a 2009 house fire that seriously hurt her husband and killed a family friend has a trial set to begin today.

Linda Blackwell is also charged with arson and obtaining money by false pretense. Prosectuors say she set her home on fire, killing James Shelton.

Blackwell told authorities she woke up to flames in the kitchen, but instead of calling 911, she drove three miles to the sheriff's office to get help.

Blackwell's husband was burned on 60 percent of his body, apparently while trying to rescue Shelton.  Blackwell's trial is set to last six days.
