Ferrum Women Win NCAA First Round Game

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum won its first NCAA Tournament game in four tries with tonight's 73-70 first-round win over Capital (Ohio). The Panthers lost in the first round in each of its previous trips to the postseason (1995, 2012, 2013). Kylene Culler set a new NCAA Div. III Tournament record with 24 rebounds, and added 11 points and six assists. Katy Kipps had 18 points, and Jacole Hairston had 17 points and nine rebounds. Kayla Goins added 13 points, including three three-pointers for the Panthers (27-2). Jamie Caton scored her 1000th career point for the Crusaders (19-9), closing with a game-high 25 points.
