Troutville Man Becomes Agitated By Barking Dog, Allegedly Goes After Neighbors With Hammer

Botetourt Co., VA - A Troutville man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after allegedly going after his neighbors with a hammer.

54 year old Patrick Bryant apparently became agitated with a barking dog and cops were called after he allegedly threatened to injure several people at a small apartment building while wielding a hammer.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found two men on the ground, one restraining the other.

According to witnesses, Bryant attempted to assault two people, as well as the barking dog, with the hammer.  The victims were able to overpower him and held him down until help arrived.

Deputies took the suspect into custody and transported him to the Botetourt County Jail.  Bryant has been charged with two counts of Attempted Murder and is being held with no bond set at this time.
