Doughboy Vandal Apologizes to Vets at Monument Terrace

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - The young woman who broke Lynchburg's Doughboy statue apologized to veterans at Monument Terrace Friday

As part of her sentence, Jessica McCrickard must spend four Fridays at the troop rally.

During her first visit with the veterans, McCrickard reluctantly stood in front of the crowd and said she was sorry.

Some veterans accepted her apology, but others said they are still angry with McCrickard.

McCrickard must also complete 100 hours of community service, pay the city $2,500 dollars, and be on good behavior for a year to avoid jail time.
