Representative Hurt Speaks To Boy Scouts In Campbell County

Rustburg, VA-- More than 200 Boy Scouts from the Piedmont District gathered at Rustburg High School in Campbell County Saturday.

It was all a part of their Merit Badge College. Rep. Robert Hurt was there and spoke to the scouts about history and the importance of being involved in the community. The Scouts spent the day earning merit badges that ranged from CPR training, to engine building and wood working.

Hurt says he was honored to be a part of the event, and respects the Boy Scout program for offering so much to young people in the community.

"Athletics, outdoors, all kinds of skills, but it also focuses on citizenship. And that's something I can't understate in terms of its importance. It's so important to teach our young people to be good citizens," said Hurt.

This was one of multiple events the Boy Scouts host to help them earn their merit badges.
