GADSDEN, Ala. -

An Attalla man faces life in prison following his conviction for killing his wife.

Etowah County jurors found 57-year-old Roy Thomas "Tommy" Smith guilty of capital murder.  He strangled Carla Smith to death in Fall 2010.

Paramedics found her body in the trunk of her car November 1, 2010.  Investigators said Smith abandoned the vehicle in a parking lot before going to his own car and driving away.

Prosecutors said they will not seek the death penalty.
