New Trash System Starts April 7 For Lynchburg Residents

Lynchburg, VA - City officials are encouraging Lynchburg residents to be on the lookout for important information regarding changes to trash collection in their water/sewer utility bills this month.

City Council recently approved changes to the existing trash collection system including the elimination of the trash tag in favor of specially marked trash bags.  The bags will be available in area grocery and convenience stores at a cost of five bags for $6.25.  The change is effective April 7, 2014.

Residents may continue to purchase an annual decal. If a trash decal is used, a specially marked bag is not needed unless the resident has more trash than can be contained in the trash cart.  The water bill insert contains additional information explaining the new system.

Information regarding the new system will also be available at the public meetings being held on Monday, March 24 at Linkhorne Middle School and on Monday, March 31 at Dunbar Middle School.

Both meetings are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.  Residents may also access the information HERE.
