UVa NCAA Regional News and Notes

•As we told viewers on March 9th when Coastal Carolina won the Big South Tournament, Coastal coach Cliff Ellis has now taken four teams to the NCAA Tournament - Coastal, Auburn, Clemson, and South Alabama. He said Coastal has  chance to make history - a 16 seed beating a 1 seed. "Somebody is going to do it. Is it a difficult task? Yes. Is it impossible? No. I think the opportunity for a 16 seed to beat a 1 seed is better than it was 10 years go," Ellis said Thursday.

•Duke is also in the Raleigh Regional but is in the Midwest Regional and therefore would not face UVa until the national championship. Coach Mike Krzyzewski said his freshman Jabari Parker will average 25 points a game in the NBA. This does not mean that Parker will leave after this season but most believe that he will. Coach K also referenced this past Sunday's ACC Championship game against Virginia. He said he thought Duke played good defense until the second half against the Cavaliers. He said his players were worn down on defense. "Virginia can do that to you," he said.

•The Raleigh portion of the East Region is loaded with teams unfamiliar with NCAA Tournament play. The Raleigh News & Observer recognized that three teams - Mercer (1985), Coastal Carolina (1993), and UMass (1998) - haven't been in the Big Dance in more than 15 years.
