Blacksburg - Spring FOOTBALL began Thursday at Virginia Tech, the first of 15 practices for the Hokies with the Spring Game April 26th.
The last six years the Hokies have known who their starting quarterback was going into the spring in Tyrod Taylor and Logan Thomas. This year that is the biggest question.
Mark Leal, HOKIES REDSHIRT SENIOR QUARTERBACK, said "You know I'm confident. I like to go out there and compete with Motley and Ford. They are going to push me to get better and I'm going to push them to get better. The more competition the better."
Willie Byrn, HOKIES REDSHIRT SENIOR WIDE RECEIVER, said "He knows the offense. It's a matter of him taking over and just taking on all 11 guys as his own. And I think he will."
Leal says the offense will change from last year if he is named the starter, mainly by getting the tailbacks more involved in the ground game.
Leal said "I think it will be more really trying to focus on establishing the run game. That is the most important thing for us right now going into the spring is getting that run game down."
