LEXINGTON - A superb season came to an end for VMI Tuesday night. The Keydets lost in the semifinals of the CIT 75-62 to Yale. The Bulldogs outrebounded the Keydets 45-27 and held the normally solid shooting team to just 40 percent from the floor.
The game was the final contest for VMI's dynamic senior duo of D.J. Covington and Rodney Glasgow. Coach Duggar Baucom said those two were a part of a senior class that tallied a total of 71 wins in their four years.
Covington was limited by foul trouble in the first half but still finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Glasgow scored 20 points and had 7 assists in his finale.
VMI (22-13) was 5-18 from three-point land. Yale (19-13) was 6-18.
Freshman QJ Peterson, one of the top scorers in the Big South Conference, scored just three points on 1-11 shooting.
Yale advances to the CIT finals against the winner of the Pacific at Murray State game, also played on Tuesday night.
