Lynchburg, VA – E.C. Glass will soon be getting an in-school Credit Union.

The Lynchburg School board approved the student operated Hilltopper branch Tuesday.

Students can make deposits and withdrawals to pay for things like their yearbook or prom tickets.

Lynchburg City Schools says it will teach the students about financial literacy as well as job applications and work ethics.

Students will work for school credit during the week.

Students will get paid for their work over the weekends at the Central Virginia Credit Union.

"Students are going to go through extensive training with the Central Virginia Credit Union during the summer to prepare and train to run the Hilltopper Credit Union," said Supervisor of Instruction Ed Dellinger.

Brookville and Jefferson Forest High Schools have already implemented the program
