EPA to Hold Open House to Discuss Upcoming Dredging Work For Coal Ash Cleanup

Danville, VA-- Next Monday night  you can ask questions about the cleanup from the coal ash spill.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is going to answer questions about the upcoming dredging work near the Schoolfield Dam.

On February 2nd, the spill at Duke Energy's retired plant near Eden released about 39,000 tons of coal ash into the Dan River.

The open house is free-flowing, so you can show up anytime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The discussions will be held at the Danville Community Market on Craghead Street.

There will be representatives from the U.S. EPA, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Virginia Dept. of Environmental Quality, Virginia Department of Health, City of Danville, U.S. Coast Guard and other participating agencies.
