Forest Middle School Students Hear Bronwyn's Challenge

Lynchburg, VA - Eighth graders at Forest Middle School got an early lesson on the importance of safe driving.

Bronwyn's Challenge is an initiative the YOVASO students at Jefferson Forest High School started.

The students recently won a state-wide award for the challenge. It encourages students to be safe drivers and safe passengers. High school students shared memories of Bronwyn Friday and encouraged the middle-schoolers to practice safe driving. They distributed bracelets to help students remember to buckle up.

"It's very important for them to be safe while in a motor vehicle. I know they can't drive yet, but it's also important to make sure that they know that they need to wear their seatbelts at all times while in a motor vehicle," said Corporal Ryan Hilbish.

Bronwyn Farris was 15 when she died in a car crash earlier this year. She was not wearing a seat belt.
