Rain Causes Driving Hazards In Lynchburg and Surrounding Areas

Lynchburg, VA - VDOT has been receiving reports of downed trees, flooding and washed out roads in Lynchburg and the surrounding areas.

According to VDOT, a small rock slide was reported on Route 56 in Nelson County, while potential washouts were reported on Route 700 in Campbell County and Route 729 in Pittsylvania County.

In addition, a number of trees have been reported in roadways across several counties in the south-central portion of the state, including Amherst and Pittsylvania counties. 

VDOT crews are responding and will continue to monitor and address the conditions.

Motorists should slow down, use caution and be alert.
