Henry Co. Sheriff's Office Looking for Three Men in Connection With Suspicious Activity, Robbery

Henry Co., VA – The Henry County Sheriff’s Office needs your help finding three subjects they say were involved in suspicious activity Friday and Saturday.

Investigators say three white males driving a white pickup truck walked to the back of a home in the Glen Court area of Ridgeway, but a neighbor yelled at them before they were able to get into the home Friday.

On Saturday, three white men were spotted on Andra Drive, also in Ridgeway. Investigators say a man can up to a home and asked to come inside. The person in the home refused and the man asked the resident to walk outside and show him where the property line was located.

The resident was a short distance away from her home, when she heard her door close, officials say. She then discovered the door had been locked and she told authorities she saw a man inside her home.

Investigators say the man inside the home ran and got into the truck with the other man, fleeing the scene.

A pocketbook with cash and other items were stolen, the Sheriff’s Office says.

In both cases, the Sheriff’s office says three men were traveling in a white, four door pickup truck. The truck is described as possibly having South Carolina tags with a yellow rectangular light bar similar those found on construction vehicles.

The men told the victims in both cases they worked for the government and said they were inspecting winter storm damage, the Sheriff’s Office says.

Investigators say similar situations have been reported in the same general area as well as others where one individual will divert the attention of the resident away from an open door allowing the others to enter the residence.  The motive for these incidents is theft.

The Sheriff's Office requests residents to be aware of this type of situation and to report any suspicious activity to the Henry County Sheriff's Office at (276) 638-8751 or the Crimestoppers Program at 63-CRIME (632-7463).

The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $1000.00 for information related to crime.  The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
