Roanoke, VA - More than 500 volunteers pitched in at a area non-profit combining more than 2,000 volunteer hours in just one day.
Students, faculty and parents from Roanoke County's Faith Christian School made it all happen. It is the school's only fundraiser of the year.
Billed as "Project Faith," the annual service project picks worthy non-profits to help. This year the Jefferson Center in Roanoke is the benefactor.
"Jefferson Center is, of course, about making sure the community has space to do important things together... sort of for a collective experience. And this is one of my favorite days of collective experience since I've been here. It's been very, very cool," said Jefferson Center Executive Director, Cyrus Pace.
The students get pledges for their work. In all they will have raised nearly$170,000 in sponsors.
