Randolph-Macon scored two runs in the ninth to stay alive and force extra innings, then scored in the 11th to edge Hampden-Sydney 4-3 in the ODAC Baseball Tournament Friday afternoon at Lynchburg City Stadium.
Hampden-Sydney and starter Hunter Lewis took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth before the Yellow Jackets' late rally. Randolph-Macon nearly won it in the ninth, but the Tigers turned a bases-loaded inning-ending double play to stay alive. Hampden-Sydney got out of another jam in the 10th before freshman Jordan Schmeer ended it with an rbi single to right in the 11th as Randolph-Macon stays alive and advances to Saturday play. Hampden-Sydney finishes the year 27-15. Tigers right fielder Spencer Wiles went 3-for-5 in the game and broke the school record for total hits in a season with 65, also the school record for doubles in a season with 22.
