LU Baseball Cracks Baseball America Top 25

For the first time in school history, the Liberty Flames baseball team has cracked Baseball America's Top 25.

The Flames, coming off a weekend sweep of UNC-Asheville, are number 22 in this week's poll.  LU has won 17 straight Big South games and is 35-and-10 overall.  Only three teams in the Top 25 have won more games than the Flames.

Virginia, who stays at number one for the third straight week, third-ranked Louisiana Lafayette and number 4 Cal-Poly.  Liberty is now off for exams, a nine-day break.  The Flames play AT top-ranked Virginia a week from Wednesday.

Alex Close, WALK-OFF 2-RBI SINGLE FOR FLAMES, said "We need a break, I need a break.  I'm gonna take a couple of days and sleep and relax and get rejuvenated and we'll come ready for UVa."
Jim Toman, LIBERTY FLAMES HEAD COACH, said  "We need a little bit of a break.  And hopefully in six or seven days they'll feel refreshed and play a little bit better because we're not playing that well right now."

Here's Baseball America's Top 5 this week:

1. Virginia  37-8
2. Oregon St.  31-8
3. Louisiana-Lafayette   39-6
4. Cal Poly    36-7
5. Florida   30-15
