State Police Investigate Fatal Crash In Pittsylvania County

Pittsylvania Co., VA - State Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed a North Carolina resident Tuesday morning around 11:00 on Route 58, one mile east of Route 734 in Pittsylvania County.

According to police, 59 year old Gaynell  Elliott was driving east on Route 58 when she struck a vehicle that was pulling out from a private driveway.

77 year old Lois Scott Stewart was a front seat passenger in Elliott's car and she was taken to Danville Regional Hospital for injuries she sustained in the crash.

Stewart was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash but was pronounced dead a short time later, according to police.

Elliott was also wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and she was transported by ambulance to Danville Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Both the driver of the car that pulled out and his passenger were taken to Danville Regional Medical with non-life threatening injuries.  They were both wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash.

According to police, 23 year old Roosevelt Fuller 5th, the driver of that vehicle,  was charged in the crash with fail to yield right of way and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended operator’s license. His passenger was 22 year old Latrenda Jamison.

The crash remains under investigation
