UVa Baseball Routs VCU 12-3

Charlottesville - Top-ranked Virginia wrapped up its regular season home schedule Tuesday night, trouncing in-state rival VCU 12-3.

The Cavaliers banged out 14 hits and broke the game wide open in the seventh, tacking on five more runs and batting around to balloon their lead to 11-1.  Virginia also batted around in the first inning, scoring four runs. 

John LaPrise went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI for the Cavs, while Joe McCarthy and Mike Papi were each 2-for-4 with two RBI.

UVa finishes the regular season Thursday through Saturday (May 15-17) with a three-game ACC series at Wake Forest. The postseason then begins as the ACC Baseball Championship runs May 20-25 in Greensboro.
