Forest - Jefferson Forest broke loose for three runs in the fifth to snap a 1-all tie and the Cavaliers defeated Amherst County 4-2 Friday night in Seminole District baseball action at Forest Middle School.
It's the first loss of the season for the Lancers, the number one seed for next week's Seminole District Tournament with a 16-and-1 record. It's only the second loss in the last two seasons for Amherst, who stayed unbeaten last year all the way to the state semifinals.
Camdyn Smith went 2-for-3 at the plate for Jefferson Forest, Zack LeMaster also 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Hunter Neighbors led the Lancers, going 2-for-3.
Also L.C.A.'s state semifinal game with Norfolk Academy, suspended Thursday in Colonial Heights in the third inning, was postponed again on Friday due to wet field conditions. They'll resume the game Saturday morning at 11 with L.C.A. leading 1-0 in the third inning. The winner advances to Sunday night's 6 o'clock state championship game.

Nelson Co. 5, Altavista 0 - Nelson improves to 11-and-1 on the season, Altavista falls to 3-7-and-1.
Randolph-Henry 8, Prince Edward Co. 1 - Statesmen stay unbeaten on the season, now 9-and-0
