Lynchburg - The Hillcats rallied from two runs down in the bottom of the 9th to beat Winston-Salem 7-6 Monday evening and win the series with the Dash 3 games-to-1. With the bases loaded and one out in the 9th, Jose Peraza singled by the third baseman into left field, then outfielder Courtney Hawkins misplayed the ball and all three runners scored giving Lynchburg the walk-off 7-6 win. The Hillcats have now won five of their last six games and climbed back up to .500 for the season, the first time they've been there since April 21. Lynchburg now trails Northern Division co-leaders Potomac and Wilmington by just a half-game.
The Hillcats overcame a four-run deficit earlier in the game thanks in large part to Joe Odom's three-run homer in the fifth.
Peraza's hit provided Lynchburg with its fourth walk-off win of the season, and its fifth victory in the team's final at-bat this year. Lynchburg continues its homestand with a three-game series against Frederick, beginning with a Tuesday night game at 6:05pm.
