Lynchburg Salvation Army Asking for Fan Donations

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA-With this recent heat wave the Salvation Army is working to keep folks cool. This summer when the temperature rises above 90 degrees they'll provide a cooling center on Park Avenue, that will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Leaders are also asking the community for fan donations. They've had several requests already this summer, so they've started a fan drive.

“Every summer we get requests for fans, and we never have enough fans to go around. So Captain Dohmann said, 'Let's have a fan drive, ask the community to donate fans to the Salvation Army, and we'll give them away to people in need,'" said Chesley Vohden, Director of Development for the Lynchburg Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is hoping to collect 100 fans to give out on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you would like to donate a fan you can take it to one of three locations: the Center of Hope on Park Avenue, the Family Store at Fort Hill Village, or the Family Store in Appomattox.
