Roanoke, VA - Some delays for drivers Tuesday at one of Roanoke's busiest intersections... after a water main broke overnight.
The trouble, at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Williamson Roads, is causing headaches for motorists.
Crews were able to make the repair and get water back on by mid-morning but a permanent fix will take a little longer.
Concerned about the afternoon rush, crews filled the ten foot deep hole with gravel for the time being. The goal is to open things up for rush hour.
"We realize this is a heavy commuter area and people want to get through; detours are inconvenient. So if we can have it open for a little bit, even if it it's not perfect conditions, it's better than nothing," said WVWA Spokeswoman, Sarah Baumgardner.
Crews will then return overnight to finish a permanent patch.
